At the end of the first season, Denise would return home (and to The Cosby Show) after dropping out of college. One key piece of advice given to Whitney in that episode, which has subsequently reverberated throughout pop culture to this day, was to Relax, Relate, and Release. Lettie Bostic later replaced Stevie as the new dorm director. Also included in the first season cast were obnoxious and extremely wealthy dormmate Whitley Gilbert, ladies' man Dwayne Wayne and dorm director Stevie Rallen. A Different World is a spinoff of the popular sitcom series The Cosby Show, that aired for six seasons and ran for 144 episodes, on NBC-TV from Septemto July 9, 1993.
